Skin Care TipsSkin CareSun ProtectionIf your daily exercise routine brings you outside in the sun, then you are increasing your exposure to ultraviolet rays and, if you aren't careful, increasing your risk of skin cancer. In order to protect your skin and reduce your risk of developing melanoma, you must add skin protection to your daily routine. Even when the sun seems to be hiding behind the clouds, ultraviolet rays are still damaging your skin-and there is no exercise that can reverse that. An easy way to add skin protection to your routine is to use a moisturizer that contains an SPF. Most SPF moisturizers only have an SPF of 15 which means you'll get about an hour of skin protection. Also, since these moisturizers aren't designed as heavy duty sun protection, they are often not water or sweat proof. If you are especially sensitive to the sun or plan to be out longer than an hour, you may want to try an SPF 30 waterproof sun block. Often, children's sun block is heavier and made to withstand water and sweat better than the regular versions, so that may be the best option. And don't forget sunblock on cloudy days either. Ultraviolet rays are just as powerful and harmful to exposed skin on cloudy days. So cover up and be careful. Take care of your skin so that you look your best for years to come. |
